This adds to the hunger system by allowing players to mix things to make very filling meals that can also provide long-lasting benefits such as enhanced movement speed. Food can be prepared in Cooking Pots, which can be found on most locations. The hunger of the final dinner is a combination of all components used, with a boost for using distinct ingredients rather than spamming four of the same.
All meals provide status effects, and the type and duration of those effects are determined by the components used and the amount of appetite the meal provides. Mushrooms, seafood, and fruit all have a distinct status impact, and some fruits/mushrooms have an additional effect on the dinner. Seasoning and plants can be used to achieve a variety of effects, such as raising the tier of status effects in return for shortening their durations.
Each meal you prepare increases your Cooking Skill marginally and can ultimately level up, providing a hunger boost to all future meals you cook, as demonstrated in the meal’s description. Decent Simmered Fruit, for example, would become Good Simmered Fruit and provide 1.1x more appetite than normal. The highest Cooking Talent Tier is “Perfect,” which grants a 1.5x appetite and condition impact duration boost.Â
